The MFL MarMac Community School District provides outstanding educational opportunities for students from the communities of Monona, Farmersburg, Luana, Marquette, McGregor, and surrounding areas. The enrollment is approximately 900 PK-12 students in two locations. The Monona Center includes the PS-3rd grade elementary center and the 9-12 high school. The McGregor Center includes grades 4th through 8th.
MFL MarMac offers a wide variety of college level courses. In a Department of Education Site Visit Audit in 2009 they had no non-compliance issues of any type and are financially solvent. Test scores are on average several percentage points above the state percentage for most grades. There are also two daycares in the vicinity. The Little Bulldog Daycare Center is housed on the Monona Campus, and the Dr. Smith Daycare Center is a block from the middle school.
MFL MarMac offers a variety of college level courses. Test scores are on average several percentage points above the state percentage for most grades. In addition to rigorous and relevant academic structure, MFL MarMac offers a variety of fine arts and athletic opportunities. The “Young Americans” is an award-winning show choir. Each year, the group puts on a number of performances. Also available at MFL MarMac is both large group and individual speech, drama, danceline, and an active Friends for the Arts organization. A new fine arts addition was added to the Monona Center in recent years, and an auditorium was added in 2013.
MFL MarMac athletics has always been a source of pride for the area. MFL MarMac graduate Raef LaFrentz competed in the NBA. In addition to a number of state wrestling and track participants each year, the girls varsity basketball team was runner-up in the 2A State Tournament in 2008. Numerous individual and team achievements have been recognized in all the sports. A future project of the school district includes the addition of a wellness facility at the Monona Center.
